Just little things throughout. The name of the movie for one, and then all these "covid waves". The waves in the movie are what the aliens that are called "The Others" do to the people of the earth. They are basically killing off the population and taking over. Depopulation. First wave is an EMP. Second wave is geoengineering and causing massive earthquakes. Third wave is the aliens aka "The Others" modefying a strain of the Avian Flu to make it extremely deadly. 4th wave is the aliens possessing humans which causes the possessed to kill the unpossessed but also leads to the military saying it's easier to test for alien possession in children than adults so the children are separated and taken to military bases while the adults are left behind and killed like a concentration camp. The children are microchipped and tracked. The children are now child soldiers and forced to do and brainwashed into whatever the military wants. Justification to killing humans is now a thing because they could be possessed by aliens. The 4th wave happened because there was fear of a 5th wave, so military justified an overreach and killing out of fear and control. The 5th wave is in itself, the total brainwashing of younger generations to kill off people and freedom and old ways of life.

The waves of human destruction committed by the others does sort of mimic the engineered destruction of the human race I suppose. It's hard to see whether life imitates art or vice versa in this case.
The movie came out in 2016 and by then most of the plans of the elite were in place, so it's not a stretch. Actually though Rick Yancey's book, which the film is based on, came out in 2013.
Yancey is a former IRS agent so maybe he was in on various continuation of government scenarios, so who knows.
