What do think the goal was? Create a martyr to enrage the right and increase extremism to justify more tyranny?

Someone had to die in the Capitol, otherwise it seemed rather peaceful.

The overall plan was to stigmatize conservative white males as a domestic terrorism threat.

Trump, the Republican Party, alt-right media were completely in on this staged event.
