Just an observation, but most of all that's out there are "cool mist" ultrasonic units - that aerosolize whatever contaminants are present in tap water. Coincide that with the shortage of bottled distilled water. Can't find any anywhere... Mostly a rant, but also a concern. Most folks filter tap water, but what's that matter if you're ingesting it thru your lungs from running shoddy tap water thru a chynese made humidifier?

I recommend adding a fluoride / other metals / chemical contaminants filter inline before your fridge filter. You can fill your humidifier up with water from this. It's not going to make the water soft if you have hard water, but it'll get rid of the kind of shit you wouldn't wanna be breathing in. you could use reverse osmosis for this, but I don't recommend reverse osmosis, since it removes actual minerals that you need in your water. (If anybody knows different, pertaining to this claim, I'd like to hear about it. I did some research on this, but certainly not exhaustive.)
Yes RO removes necessary minerals as well as bad stuff. However, most RO systems come with a “demineralization” cartridge that water is run through after the RO.
Ah interesting, thanks
