All animals are innocent but we must eat Its not much different than slaughtering an animal for food. It was just setting apart the best for the practice at the temple no temple no sacrifice. . A portion of fat was burnt then the rest was cooked and ate. Certain animals are food (kosher) not just anything was killed . What they are doing isnt in the torah
