Agree, the US had always been an expansion of British and European imperialism (to call Europe an "empire" of sorts), and all of the innovation, progress, and success was largely due to that legacy. Then some assholes decided that the US was actually just magic soil and would succeed regardless of inhabitants (despite clear evidence to the contrary, i.e. the people that were conquered).
Idk if it was stupid or nefarious, but it was clearly the wrong decision.
Pay attention enough, and you find out that many occultists believe in the magic soil concept at least with Manhattan. Its partially why NYC is such a haunted city.
