Authorities have said the increase is not due to COVID.

Authorities have also said that it is not from COVID vaccines. This is despite the fact they did not ask any mothers their vaccination status.

Why did they not ask? Well here's your answer:

"Asking mothers their vaccination status will undermine faith in the vaccination system, as there will be a perception that their choice to receive a vaccine could have caused a negative repercussion. In addition there is no reason to ask mothers for their vaccination status as there is no public health reason to do so".
