If what you say is true, though, it is plausible to me that people have looked at the Internet habits of large numbers of people and are pandering to them in hopes of attaining Democratic political victories in unlikely places, or at the very least applying political pressure to make the Republican party expend resources in places where they otherwise would not need to do so.
