They want to abolish gas with literally NO alternative. They are fucking morons. They are pushing electric, but electric machines suck shit compared to their gasoline using counterparts. Besides which, electric doesn't just come out of thin air. Usually COAL (worse than gas carbon footprint wise) is where electricity comes from in US. Where do you think all of those trains of coal are going?
Wind energy is not replacement. Wind turbines damage nature and kills a lot of birds & bats every year. Nuclear power is the only green alternative.
OL3 was a shit show from beginning but that's not a problem of nuclear power plants but how the project was ran. Instead of using foreign workforce to build it, Finland should have used domestic workforce and domestic companies that knows the legal requirements from very beginning.
Finland had to open two coal power plants because of electricity deficit though I don't know how there is deficit if Finland stopped exporting electricity. Finland exports about 2 times the electricity production of OL3 and imports equal amount of single OL3. Nuclear power is only realistic green energy. Wind turbines & solar panels are harmful to nature & animals.
And Finland still needs to import uranium from Russia to run that nuclear power plant.

Because nuclear power is future. Making a coal plant would have taken probably 20 years as well if made by same companies as OL3.
