I'm done.....you are wrong. Refraction is the bending of light due to the wavelengths causing them to be reflected or passed, and objects with refractive properties tend to 'bend' light.... That is because the light reflects at barriers and if it loses some of the kinetic energy to reflection it will bend down a bit accordingly. Materials can be created to react to particular wavelengths like filters, etc.
Those mirages are reflected off the waters surface which is reflecting as well as the light goes through the air lense.
If the floor was less reflective it would not 'raise' as much....and you get instead cut off images from the bottom ...things can appear closer such as mountains over plains based on temperature.....etc.
Just stop... believe what you want. Provide evidence that isn't swiss cheese please.
