Let’s say a 70 year pattern, fastest mode of travel:

1800: Horse*
1870: Locomotive
1940: Rocket
2010: Still rocket …

WTF happened? I have my suspicions, but I need to shore up my information when discussing with sheep.

*I know steam engines were around, but not widespread.

Without anything new even, just the innovations we know about that have been shelved would have changed the world. If more people had their basic needs met globally, how much more innovation would we see?
