Why do they use symbols and ideas from ancient Egypt? Obelisks, Isis, Horus, etc?
Is this an unbroken lineage/ideology that has lasted since those times?

well, part of the reason is the Corpus Hermeticum, its much older than places like wikipedia tell you, it is likely ancient, there was a book written in the 1800s that went over the claims that its modern but still the accepted version is that its only from the 1700s
