Does google personalize the news feed for each person? I used to scroll through it on my old phone while waiting for my slow af computer. The stories were from all over the map, and not universally or particularly negative. Of course there were tons of "you should become a leftist and ally" bullshit stories, but reading those can give you a good idea of what they want people to believe.
If you're still looking at it, try to deliberately avoid clicking on the negative type of stories you hate and see if your news feed begins to shift over time.
As for Chicago, it's kind of like that vax death guy who was categorized as a suicide because he freely chose to get injected with poison.
