I used to want to educate myself and broaden my horizons by reading highbrow non-fiction books, so I used to peruse catalogs from Oxford University Press. So many interesting books by smart people!
At the same time, I was falling down the rabbit hole into conspiracy theory. A couple of years into it, I came to the conclusion that about 98% of significant non-fiction books were written or influenced by the CIA and MI6, just by looking at the little descriptions.
At least I never actually bought any book from OUP.

I've got shelves of WW2 books that I now consider propaganda. Eye opening killed that hobby.
