Should we prep for nuclear contamination?

There's at least three plausible scenarios that could cause contamination without creating nuclear war:

Tactical use for area denial (Chernobyl?)
As an EMP
In space against satellites

If any of these things happen, what kind of contamination would we expect? How to prep?

Nuclear waste is not dangerous. Its also a hoax
