Kyiv Kyiv Kyiv I see it everywhere, where the fuck did this come from? My whole life the spelling was always Kiev. I am in my late 30's and have always had an interest in both geography and history.
My guess is it is so when people google it they automatically get "approved sources" with the new spelling, and anything with the spelling I am more familiar with will be deemed old fashioned. I imagine this is not the first time they've tried something like this. Am I the only one that is driven mad by this sudden new spelling?
Kyiv Ukrainian, Kiev Russian.
I think they chose Kyiv after the former Soviet Block broke up, where it was formerly called chicken, no, I meant Kiev.
I think it became a narrative after the coup where it hit the sources and textbooks changing, perhaps now even drawing ire.
Isn't it Cyrillic though? Wouldn't it be the same regardless?
Not well versed in this
Probably, but it doesn't taste like chicken. All it needs is garlic and butter sauce you damn Slavs. Not a typo.
No idea. But if they also start calling chicken kyvi I gonna have to sue the Chinese.
