I actually think that she was on to something with those comments that got her suspended, but she was just grasping it and doing that out loud in mid conversation as she was realizing the truth.
Im not racist, AND I can't stand Whoopi., But I think what she was grasping and trying to say was that racism wasn't the worst thing going on with the Nazis and racism doesn't necessarily cause or lead to what Hitler did.
For years I have looked at the Holocaust, and although I see the role that racism played in all that what is see the real lesson is is that no man or government should ever have that much powe, because of they get some stupid idea, and they have unlimited power they may do something like what Hitler did.
If govt has limited power nothing like that would have ever happened. There are all sorts of racist and racism but it doesn't mean that all of those people would necessarily want to see people of other races suffer or be exterminated.
