First one to get the mark of the beast is Cain, read about it in Genesis 4, he got it from lying, to cover up his sin, as far as I understand. This is a lesson being taught over and over again in the Bible; it is what comes out of your mouth that defile you, not what goes into your mouth.

Where Daniels three Jewish friends did not worship the golden image, and was thrown into a furnace of fire as a result. That time the the son of God, that being Christ, came and saved them. That is them denying the mark, as far as I understand.

The only way a demon can possess is if they are invited in for a possession. The lady is probably part of some cult.
