All kidding aside, managing resources and knowledge on a global scale is a noble effort. The greatest problem I see is self-serving (and self-appointed) people gaining too much global influence and using it to usurp leadership positions of a new world government. Then it would be very, very hard to resist them in any meaningful way. There will be no potential liberators left and modern (future) technology will let them utterly destroy people who don't comply.

You have to wonder if the name was chosen to slowly get the idea of a world government into people's minds.
