Words are SPELLS.

You can often discern the intent behind the speller just by looking at a word and the energy it emits.

For example, the word "Comirnaty" LOOKS evil and sounds evil.

This is by design.

"covfefe" also had some sort of "spell" effect, but perhaps the opposite...it seems to have further unhinged the NPCs.

There are many examples of "spelling" used to hypnotize the masses.

Portmanteaus and anagrams seem to be an essential part of this spell magic.
