Think of it this way - many, if not all people, believe they are smart, even the stupid ones. So, instead of proving their statements or offerring real arguments, they would rather mock people because they will never admit that they have been fooled.

Mocking flat-earthers is something they watched on shows, media, memes, etc. It's an easy thing to dismiss since they were programmed to immediately react with laughter on the thought that the Earth is not round. Of course, every news channel begins with a spinning globe and that is slowly but surely finding its place in the subconscious of the people.

People's education is in a major decline. They can no longer offer their own thoughts - they prefer to read an article that shows 0 proof but agrees with their theory. Many don't even know what a theory means. So, mocking others is a way for them to artificially feel superior to others. Of course, in the past, it meant that they would know basic physics and present counter arguments. Now, they simply copy an article from the nasa site and add insults because that is the truth about their mental capacity. They have been thought in school to repeat the answer that the teacher tells them, so they do what they have been programmed to do.

From your perspective, you shouldn't hate them or insult them. How they react is showing how they are internally, not how you, or your arguments, really are. Only discuss the topic with users willing to provide a counter argument or ask a question. So many people in here think that they understand the world from the 1% truths they saw in one video - they believe they are smarter than the most when they only compare themselves with idiots. Thus they grow more arrogant and more hateful instead of being understanding and helpful. But don't let them stop you or even delay you with your task. You're not here to wake up everyone - those who have ears to listen and eyes to see will agree with you. Don't bother with the blind and deaf.
