While I do still hold out hope that there will ultimately be some manner of accountability, I tend to agree with some of the others here in that I don't really see a reckoning on the horizon for this, as terrible as it is.
One of the most horrifying facets of this moment is that even in the face of revelatory evidence of corruption and deceit surrounding all of this -- it marches forward, seemingly uncoupled from any scrutiny it receives. No matter how large the revelation, the moment appears nigh impervious to new information or any real scrutiny of the old information.
In the face of real injury and destruction -- it all seems to continue marching on.
I just wonder what slows/stops/reverses a machine like that? The machine seems to be pushing toward a full breakdown of societal structure and social cohesion anyway. Governing entities appear to be ruling by fiat without much concern for the consequences. Government entities are rolling out mandates that are removed from all but the most superficial nod to a concern for their citizens. So many of these things almost look like they're written to be deliberately antagonistic. Walkouts, people on the streets protesting, noncompliance -- while those are all things we would traditionally turn to to push back, they don't seem as effective in a machine that wants all of those structures gone anyway.
How do we stop feeding the machine and retain our social cohesion in an environment like that?
They have a few decades head start. They've got to get physical at some point. They will lose or there will be generations of pain. We've got to find the head of the snake these people take orders from.
Why would they?
