I think that's what Trump has been doing. Remember how he said he saved 4 million people from the fake virus when he really just invited tyranny and people applauded. Anyone can say a terrible thing that was never happening in the first place was prevented and I think Trump has been using this to try to gain an edge. In this case, he can't lose because Braynard's event gets ruined and he claims he was right about a setup or it doesn't and he gets credit for preventing a setup by saying there was a setup.
