Yeah, those reasons don’t seem to add up :/ I read where a mining expert commented that the toxic gases are only an issue in enclosed spaces, not in the wide open air. And the algae doesn’t make sense to me …. what are the chances that both adults, the baby, and the dog all would’ve consumed the affected water? What parent would give their infant water from a river/lake, period? Even if they neglected to pack enough drinking water, I imagine parents would prioritize the bottled water for the baby and only the adults drink the dirty water … And it sounds like they are frequent hikers, so they should be prepared.
Couldn’t dig up too much on his work, sadly. Looks like he was an engineer for Google (specifically Android), then moved to work for Snapchat. At Google/Android, it seems like he specialized in systems for app developers to efficiently run tests on their programs as they are developing them… nothing too scandalous. However, I’m definitely curious on the whistleblower angle … I wonder if he was gonna leak something and was “suicided”?
And it seems like he was pretty high up in his career … masters degrees and was 45 years old, so presumably working for 20+ years. Apparently they had multiple rental properties, a nanny, and a “house manager”, which I think is like a personal assistant. He’s not just some low-level programmer …
^ here is the “algal bloom” that was in the nearby river. Look at the photo examples. I have a hard time believing any reasonable adult would consume water that looks like that 🤢

I’m planning to do some more digging this evening after work!! I’m curious if there is also a whistleblower angle …
