I don't think he was into the kids for himself. What makes you think he's on an island? I've read the theory that his death was faked, but I think it makes more sense to just get rid of the guy than it does to cause all this talk of him getting killed while saving him from prison and giving him some assets so he can live somewhere else.
They lost hundreds of millions on Epstein easily when he got arrested. He could have easily made a deal to keep his money if he gave up the organization, like Jordan Belfort's deal. I think they were afraid to take the risk and try to save him. There's a bigger trail to save him than there is to toss some money at some guards to kill him. Even at a 0.0001% chance of him talking, it makes more sense to get rid of him.
