1st same as most hacks now days ransomware. Force schools to pay to unlock systems.
2nd Hackers have stolen student rolls including parent contact information. They then contact the parents and threaten to harm their children if they do not pay them. (who takes a chance that the hackers would not be able to)
Not saying these are not false flags, I am just saying these are the reasons some institutions have been hacked. The basis it is a school and not worth hacking is not entirely accurate.
