This would be good news, as the unvaxxed can point to this to say we didn't cause the most recent wave, the vaxxed have to get a booster and contunue to distance, and trust in the CDC will be visibly shaken.

...which is how I know they will never announce this. Crediting Trump is just throwing a bone to pacify boomer republicans, as well as convince Trump supporters to get the jab.
