Don't they mean Catholic churches? Because dumping children in unmarked graves kind of pisses people off.
Very slimy choice of wording here. At this point, they have to understand that people equate the word "Catholic" with "child trafficking" and "child abuse". They're lucky we're (Canada, not me personally) not burning the priests as well.
those graves were documented and marked. after 100+ years wooden crosses don't stand the test of time, especially when those childrens families no longer cared enough to upkeep the grave. The thing about this outrage is every few decades of neglect they can find another graveyard and do it all over.
Bodies of children were found in unmarked graves outside previously Catholic run residential schools in at least three locations in Canada in the past few months.
It's not just the fault of the Catholic church but also the Canadian government.
Regardless, people are angry. Specifically, at the Catholic church. Therefore, churches are being burned. Most of them are Catholic.
Why is that assumed to be some heinous thing though? If the graves are something like fifty or a hundred years old, it could be that they died of tuberculosis or some other disease that was more common back then. It seems like people are jumping to the conclusion that they were murdered by the Catholic Church.
The problem with this is that in the minds of the masses, Catholics are mistaken as Christians. In reality, they're an anti-Christian sect who engage in child rape, drug-fueled homosexual orgies, and satan worship.

edited for clarity and to point out I don't personally burn down priests in churches, or even just churches

The average catholic doesn't participate in any of that.
Agreed. Most people (80 - 95%) are simply puppets of whatever group or cause has most effectively captured their consciousness.
