Be aware that what they will replace the police with will be much, much worse.
They'll replace the police with an organization charged with enforcing "equity" - and you can probably guess what that means. It means they'll look the other way when blacks commit crimes (it's not their fault, it's the white supremacy) and they'll actively oppressive white people because they're white.
Remember: leftists are always projecting. All these years, when they've whined that the police were targeting minorities? That was just projection of what they intend to do to you.
You're lying. The civil lawsuit was "settled" as per the text of your own link. The city did not "lose" in civil court. Cities will settle shit all the time, regardless of culpability, to make things go away and because in the long run it's cheaper.
From the OP's article:
However, it is critical to mention that the bureau found the baton strike in question was “not intentional” and therefore not considered lethal force, while the Independent Police Review office viewed the strike as a “push,” WCAX News reports.
“Unfortunately, this decorated public servant has been caught in the crossfire of agenda-driven city leaders and a politicized criminal justice system,” the Portland Police said Tuesday.
Portland Police Association Executive Director Daryl Turner told the “Lars Larson Show” Wednesday that he feared officers would quit in response to what he called a “Witch Hunt” of a prosecution.
Journalists put their pants on one leg at a time like the rest of us, they are not special. In fact, the profession of journalist is akin to tax collector, lawyer, and sewer cleaner...an evil made necessary by modern civilization. Who gives a fuck if the journalist was accredited...that just mean they are a professional liar.
And "attacked" or not is why this is up for debate, and why (sadly) it's up to a judge or jury to decide if that was an "attack".
I didn't say I don't believe in the importance of a free press...you're putting words in my mouth. I believe in a free press, all things being equal. However, your mistake is thinking that the press right now is "free".

The Portland Police Bureau's Rapid Response Team is voluntary. The officers have left it but they are still regular working police.
Assault in the fourth degree is the weakest assault charge. (https://app.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9A.36.041)

You're dead right about that. My wording was wrong, and I apologize for putting it that way.
Watch the video and make up your own mind about whether the second strike was a push or not.
Sorry. There are so many shills that lie, that I presumed it was a lie rather than a wording error. I'm jaded.
Push or strike, I don't care, and it shouldn't matter, because nothing should have been done.
No problem.
I don't like seeing accredited independent journalists attacked by police.

I guess I don't have anything more to say to those who don't believe in the importance of a free press.

if you make it into my circle of trust, you are worthy.
anyone in my circle is fucked with, they gotta fuck with me first... to the death.
i get "brotherhood". i get it. i will do anything if a loved one is being harmed.
Pigs gonna pig.
Why should I care about the henchmen of the oppressors?
Because this time they are doing the right thing?
