A former leader of the free world under investigation for tax, insurance and bank fraud, his inaugural committee under investigation for misappropriation of funds, a grand jury considering whether or not he violated election law in Georgia, former lawyer under investigation for acting as an agent for a foreign government, another former attorney serving prison time for campaign finance violations where Trump was named as an unindicted co-conspirator, pardons for his campaign chairman, strategist, national security advisor, an Israeli spy and others close to him...
The only reason this is all relevant (and much more), is because the right still views Trump as the leader of the conservative movement and the second coming. The conspiracy is pretty clear.
Sure, he was in the public eye, but he wasn't particularly important. If he never ran for office, he'd never have drawn the intense scrutiny that he's got now. There's a ton of stories from before 2014 where his business dealings and shady practices were covered.
He's dangerous because he's a dumbass with power. Before he was just a dumbass on TV and in movies.
