People blamed the Zika virus on genetically engineered mosquitos, and they started releasing them in Florida just a couple years after that. Only "anti-vaxer" sites talked about it.

It all got Memory holed, but it's been in place since before Desantis.

I believe it was from them dumping pesticides in the water to kill mosquitos in preparation for the olympic games
