Maybe just the glitchy code here. Sometimes when you edit text you've saved the edit doesn't stick either. Actually most times. I also observed something similar with votes not sticking on reddit in the past, like when you back out of a post and refresh the front page, your up or down vote on the post would be wiped. Might be a cookie issue or something.
