Well, there is at least one distinct difference, and that's FGM removes the clitoris and most ability to have sexual pleasure. A circumcision doesn't do that.
That said, no Christian should circumcise their child. They resolved this as not necessary for Christians, WAY back in the 1st century when the original Apostles were still alive.
Isn't it impossible to say cutting of a part of your dick makes less difference?
There is a mistaken belief that the foreskin is just "a small piece of skin". When erect, the average penis has a length of 5.2 inches and a circumference (girth) of 5 inches.
Most circumcision procedures will cut 1 to 2 inches behind the tip of the penis. Let's do the math:
1.5x2=3 length of skin removed (average of 1.5") times 2 (the foreskin is a doubled-layered fold)
3x5=15 length times circumference
In an adult, that's at least 15 square inches of densely innervated penile skin that has been removed.
A old Jewish guy once told me they are collected swoen together u for the store. But it's a tradition
Even worse, the foreskin remnants are now made into a "rejuvenating" facial cream for women.

Both Ellen and Oprah have promoted it on their TV shows. And they laugh while describing how the foreskin was removed from boys
