Kamala Harris is still in the Senate. This is the longest a "VP elect" has gone without resigning since 1949. (en.wikipedia.org)

And the only reason Biden waited until January 15th was to break some stupid record, so comparing this situation to that one is dumb.

By extending his Senate tenure to Jan. 15, Biden snuck past Claiborne Pell (D-RI) and Pete Domenici (R-NM) and will be the 14th-longest-serving senator in history.

Trump keeps nominating judges, and she's on the judiciary committee. New guy Padilla isn't ready to go yet. She's probably staying on until the 20th.

He was nominating well after the election, and most confirmations aren't just a rubber stamp. It's also a 50-50 senate, and her vote could matter if something did come up. Maybe some sort of procedural vote about the upcoming impeachment trial that could make a difference.

No reason for her to resign yet. They still need her votes in senate, her judicial committee intel, and they still control the state of California (so they don't need to rush for a dem governor to fill her seat ahead of a party change).

This is more "no reason to resign" than "oh shit I better hang on to my job because Trump is going to declare martial law before the inauguration"

Maybe she likes to trigger the Trumpists.
