Correct. You can't discriminate based on race and sex because there's laws that stop that. The logic is that race and sex are immutable properties of your person, while politics are not. (you can change your politics if you want to associate with someone)
Federally, sexual orientation used to be something you could discriminate against until the supreme court found new rights that aren't written in the constitution. (how a "right" can force someone else to do something is beyond me)
In my opinion the problem is not only the monopolies but the fact that we think corporations should have rights to do what they want. They only exist because of the government.
