FDR was part of the problem. The US citizens were overwhelmingly against WW2. He sanctioned Japan for a war China started.

Our battleships at PH undefended by the 2 carriers in the area while being on shore leave wasn't an accident. They knew an attack was immanent.

That coup he is talking about wasn't unsuccessful.
