There is no way in hell that these dudes are only 40 years old in this video. Also, isn't 40 a little bit old to be getting sent on a mission like that? Buzz is easily in his early-mid 50's.

Figure the average officer is 22 when they graduate college. They go through 2 years if training to fly a jet. They're 24 when they're just barely able to be a wingman. After 4 more years they're a captain (at 28) to be competent. Another 4 years (at 32) they're a major and a flight lead for a small group of planes if they've stayed in the same airframe. Mid 40's seems about right to be one of the best pilots in the world, and capable of flying more that "just a jet". Being a pilot isn't like being a ground soldier, they tend to get better with age.
These guys weren't just flying though. They were out on foot on the god damned moon. A 40 year old body isn't in the worst shape but isn't exactly prime either.. meh,, maybe they figured if they didn't come back they already got their use out of them so why waste a young kid when you could use them for another 20 years.
Walking is much easier than flying. Its not like they ran 3 marathons up there.
Walking the beach in sneakers is a bitch when you're 22, these dudes were on the moon in fuckin space suits at the age of 40.
Lmao! Dude I'm 40, ~20 years military service, still active duty. Knee replacement, 3 foot fusions, 4 shoulder surgeries. Degenerative disk disease in neck and back and I run half marathons, do tough mudders, hike, and shit like that and im busted as fuck. 40 isn't the end of life.
If you're 22 can have a hard time walking in sand you need to work out more.
