Just think of all the doorbell cams etc... People bought into them for the "safety" of their packages.
Thinking that anything connected to the commercial internet is "private", was everyone's first mistake.
Does anyone think Jeff Bezos' or Zuckerberg's security cameras are accessible over the open internet?
I recently moved to Eastern Europe and one of the things I noticed right away was the lack of CCTV everywhere. No CCTV in public transportation, no CCTV on every street corner, every shop, every bar. There are some surveillance cameras in key places (like the Israeli embassy that is the most well-defended and surveilled building in the city(I wonder why...)), but other than that I can walk around all day most days and not have to worry about being creeped-on by the state.
