So you arent talking about God then, you're talking about a metaphor, which is fine.

I'm talking about God as a divine being, not as some "new age concept of love in all our hearts".

Ok sure. I also don't believe in that either. I believe we are our brains and when the brain ceases to function we are nothing.

You’re reading past his words in order to argue. In what possible way is “Universal Consciousness” either a metaphor or a non-divine being?

He said "I use God mainly as a metaphor" on the line right before universal consciousness. I'm not trying to argue, just giving another perspective.

I believe there's nothing coming after. I believe death is permanent oblivion. I believe that's why we should live our best life now, that's all.
