An interesting subject. If you look into it, all the stars of our constellations reside in our galaxy. As we “know”, our solar system orbits our galactic core. It seems utterly implausible to me that from the earliest recorded observations of the constellations, there has been no change. Orion’s Belt remains Orion’s Belt with the exact same proportions over thousands of years.
Meh maybe the NASA explanation is true but idk those guys sure like to deceive so who knows.
When you are driving down a long highway the moon appears in the same spot in the sky even thou you have driven many miles. It’s like the moon is fixed in the sky from your perspective.
But the moon is about 350k km away and you have only travelled say 100 km, it’s the same idea for why the stars appear fixed for thousands of years while we spiral through the galaxy.
Stars are billions of km away and we a travelling around 2 million km/h.
Sure but those stars are also travelling, and infact, just because a few stars are in a single constellation does not mean those stars are physically near each other. Not to mention the fact that different parts of the galaxy are moving faster than others (faster towards the spiral tips).
It is therefore quite fucking unbelievable that Orion’s Belt has the exact same proportions as when the Egyptians made the great pyramid complex a minimum of 5,000 years ago.
