So you read the part where Jesus was publicly executed for challenging dogmatic religious authority that was based around social control, and he was the protagonist for fighting against that, and your takeaway was that he was trying to brainwash people?
Yes. Replacing one system of control with another is not freedom.
Jesus said, "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."
By fulfilling the law he destroys it, but the law and prophets are still in place because the law is removed after heaven and earth pass.
Basically, follow me, but follow the law.
This is one contradiction that makes people confused and follow blindly without thinking for themselves.
