I have to wonder if stories like this are causing the Pentagon to finally reveal actual UFO encounters that the Navy has had. Maybe civilian tech has gotten to the point where they know they can no longer hide the fact that aliens are already here. They are trying to get everyone at least a little mentally prepared for when a really big alien event that can't be hidden happens.
