Because coal is fucking nasty. Natural gas heating became commonplace in my city in the late 1990s. Before that the city was heated with coal. There was soot everywhere. It fucking sucks. And that soot is also often radioactive. Health wise you're way better off living near a nuclear plant than a coal plant.
Gas is great but there isn't quite as much of it. Not that there is infinite coal either, but there is effectively infinite nuclear fuel.
You must be delusional if you think Russia is winning. The 5 eyes are the biggest winners of this conflict and Russia, Ukraine and Germany are its losers in that order. Poland is a loser in the short term and a winner in the long term.
It wouldn't have even mattered if they hadn't lost Kherson. No one will ever take Russia seriously ever again. They no longer present a credible threat. Japan and China will likely start nibbling at its eastern territories.
For all his railing against the homosexual agenda (something he is right about) Putin has let corruption degeneracy and depravity run rampant in Russia and the result will be demographic collapse.
In fact I think Putin is actually a western stooge, a pied piper leading the Russian people to ruin.
