Well no shit, I think most of us have "mental" problems. I know I sure as hell do. And while I love to blame me, its just so easy! Im not that stupid and have so little self esteem that I cant see the bigger picture.

Most "mental" problems are caused by real life issues. And my god color me shocked as the rich steal more and more money that the rest of us would have more and more problems resulting in "mental" problems.

This is specifically about appalchians, but it can be applied to most other cultures and people. Although canadians and other "main stream western" cultures, put to much pressure on people to perform and judge if they dont perform to their standards so maybe it is a bit different.

While symptom surveys will show elevated scores for depression and anxiety, mental health problems are more greatly driven by "normal syndromes of distress," such as demoralization, grief, alienation (thwarted belongingness), loss of dignity, spiritual crises, rather than mental illnesses. There are effective methods to provide care for normal syndromes of distress, but they require different skill sets from those for treatment of mood and anxiety disorders. Caution should be exercised to avoid over-medicalizing social suffering. The question, "What happened to you?," is often more the issue than, "What is wrong with you?"

Measures one form of my vitamin d, tells me all my problems are from vitamin d deficiency. Despite me telling him I have been getting more sun in the summer and taking supplements. There is no way its that low by itself. Brushes me off after 2 years of trying to see someone about this. Holy fuck.

I dont even know what anything was except he said 12? Did he mean ng? Did he mean nmols? Did he mean active vitamin d? Why didnt he measure both? Fucking idiot. Man the controversy around vitamin d is huge, and its very likely my body is converting the active vitamin d to a different form to keep my calcium in the mid high normal.

Most people should be fine. Testing is important only for certain populations: for people who are institutionalized; for patients with a gastrointestinal disorder (like inflammatory bowel disease) or osteoporosis; those who have had weight loss surgery; those on anti-convulsant medications; and children who are immobilized and not outside and active. If you’re over 70, I recommend getting your levels checked at least one time.

I have a tan for fuck sakes, there is no way that my vitamin d is fucking 12 without something else going on here. Like I thought maybe I wasnt getting enough sun since my doggo died. So Ive been riding around with my buddy once a week in his truck with my arm hanging out the window all summer for this EXACT FUCKING REASON. So godamn frustrating. The low vitamin d wouldnt cause my phosphorous levels to be so low or my parathyroid hormone to be so high unless I was completely depleted. And there is just no fucking way. God damn idiot doctors think they know it all.

about 1% of their patients had a normal calcium level of 9.46 ng, which is where mine is at if you convert 2.36 mmol

Gonna die before I get help here, but oh no its all just mental problems! Silly me! I just need to take even more vitamin d, so simple even though it seems to be making things worse.

Running around with super, super low phosphorous and hugely elevated parathyroid hormone has to be good for me, right?!
