Remember that story in the Bible where Jesus goes to the desert to fast and pray? Satan comes to test him 3 times. On the third try, he tells Jesus 'I will give you all the kingdoms of the world if you bow down and worship me'. Though Jesus obviously declines the offer, Jesus doesn't dispute satans ownership or authority. You might expect him to say, you don't have that kind of authority, but apparently Satan does have that power over all the kindoms of the world. Jesus and the apostles on multiple occasions called Satan the god (small g) of this world, or ruler of this world. My point is Satan literally runs all the kingdoms of earth, and leaders and powerful people answer to him to one degree or another. Some aethists may scoff at that but as time goes on, that is increasing the only logical explanation I see. Luckily the God of everything has already defeated him, and it's all just playing out now.
