I think it is relatively easy to explain.

In USSR for a long time USA was a "bad guy" for people. When USSR began to degrade quickly, many people had to find some anchor, example to follow, whatever, so USA become an icon of new reality, the goal of all changes and reforms, perfect example of society and so on, not really being any of that. We just want to believe, so created that ideal USA that never existed.

However, with time, USA lost its attractiveness, people began to notice that USA is not a paradise, and not even an good enough example to blindly follow. Just another country, with same people with same problems and joys. Different in details, but same in whole.

Things developed further, and, obviously, USA began to degrade, just like USSR. USA lost its attraction, even those who wanted to emigrate from Russia plunge USA in their list of countries to choose.

I think there is exactly same thing happening in USA today. USA degrades quickly and people looking for something to anchor. Since Russia is in every news and those who degrade USA hate Russia a lot, Russia for many Americans become something like USA was for Russians on USSR fall. That is why anti-Russian posts downvoted.

It is a temporary thing, some kind of failsafe mechanism, IDK. If USA will survive that shit and throw out those who thoroughly putting it down, then Russia will lose its role for Americans and will become just another country as it should be.

It is sometimes fascinating to see how some Americans see even more hope in Russia than we, Russians actually have. I think in 1990s, Russians looked exactly same for Americans.

Also, very interesting that despite the fact that Russia is definitely have a lot of shit that could be easily used for truthful and powerful anti-Russian propaganda, Western MSM for some insane reason continue to use only completely retarded fake shit about Russia in their narratives. Seems that Western elites also have their own fake picture of bad Russia and don't have any brains to understand how retarded this look like.
