Vlad was a good guy (and child victim) who protected his people from Mohammadans.
The poor guy suffered immensely. His father gave him to the Muslims and you know what they did to boys. He was beaten and watched horrific tortures done to his people by the Muslims. His ability to perform sexually was apparently affected by his time with the Muslims.
He learned from them. Kind of like Batman.
He used some of the greatest psychological warfare tactics. He was imprisoned for so long.... in such horrible ways. And had to watch his brother become Radu the Beautiful, a favorite of the Sultan.
The fact that he was even able to function is amazing.
