I ended up with rubella from the MMR and the doctor insisted on continuing with the rest of the required vaccines. I got sicker and sicker and had such a crazy high fever my mom dumped me in the tub with cold water and ice and called our Indian medicine man (the 'white man' doctors had f'd me up so she wasn't about to take me to the hospital).

Looking back on it she said she she thinks it was encephalitis. Our medicine man had her give me ton supplements including huge doses of vitamin C. Eventually the fever and hallucinations and vomiting stopped and he had her continue with more supplements. It was already too late.

I started having all kinds of odd issues and I was called a hypochondriac. I was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis (at 17) and that lasted for about 5 or 6 years and was also diagnosed with 'chronic fatigue'. I did research and begged to have my thyroid checked but I was 'too young' for it to be an issue. Years and years later I finally found a doctor willing to test it and it was stupid low and I began taking dessicated thyroid.

When I moved to Arizona where I could order my own blood work, I have been able to keep my hormones balanced and it turns out I have hashimoto's thyroiditis along with other random autoimmune problems. I did find a naturepath who is willing to work with me (not covered by insurance, of course) but it has been a long, hard road to get remotely normal. I was 35 when I finally managed to get everything balanced and the damage was done at 17.

The autoimmune issues will always be with me. My thyroid is being destroyed by my immune system. My pancreas was as well but I think I have gotten that under control. I still get hives occasionally and have never been able to wear makeup. I have to check the ingredients on everything. My naturepath has me on low dose naltrexone which has been a miracle worker. I also take a lot of supplements.
