Long time software engineer here; I can verify that this change has taken place to a degree that is almost unimaginable. It's not just DEI, BTW, I've literally seen people that I used to think of as conservative minded, normal people; look them up now and they've all become either gay or otherwise weird. One guy that I worked with who was a little bit quiet and dorky, but never weird. When I looked him up a couple years ago he had changed his name to a girl name and his picture looked like he was trying to be a girl. I think a lot of people in Tech are introvert nerd weirdos and succumb to whatever the latest thing is that will make them feel like part of society. It's been super distressing for me to see how everybody has become so weird in my industry, it's like invasion of the body snatchers.
