The Civil War disappoints me and probably marks the death of America. The formation of the United States seemed to be a contract between states to form a union. Participation in the union should require commitment and not fickleness. However, when a large faction of states collectively agree that further participation in the union for many justifiable reasons is no beneficial to their state inhabitants, they should also be allowed to declare sovereignty or be absolved from further allegiance to a union contract that is now to their detriment.

I believe the Civil War should have been avoided and that a large faction of the states should have been allowed to leave peacefully or else consolations should have been given to afford their continued interest and trust in the benefits of a union.

There's allegations Abraham Lincoln was a faggot. There's also questions what deals he made with bankers. Slavery could have been ended by offering compensation or buying the freedom of every slave, which would have actually cost less than the war itself and saved 600,000 lives, mostly white men. Segregation could have worked as blacks preferred the mosquito infested Caribbean islands and warmer climates and whites preferred colder northeast climates. Industrialization would soon reduce the need for slaves as machines did the work of hundreds of men. Slavery was not permitted in the original settlements such as Pilgrims at Plymouth. Indentured Servitude was more common but was actually a better deal that career choices today if you do the math. 7 years indentured servitude and you get 40 acres and a mule? I'll take that deal! Today people work 7 years and don't have shit to show for it, certainly not 40 acres.
