Not sure about ancient aliens but it does seem there were other species or unique tribes of peoples with genetics we don't observe anymore.

I'm not convinced humans today are necessarily the smartest most advanced. Humans have devolved quite a bit and technology or else abundance may make softer weaker dumber human beings.
